Glen just announced a solo album! http://www.undertheradarmag.com/news/glen_hansard_announces_solo_debut/#.T3xkpypG8UY.facebook
Here is my post from The Frames board:
I have seriously never been more pumped for an album to come out. Granted, the only songs that I haven't heard off of it are "Talking With The Wolves" and"The Storm", it's still gonna be gold. My head is telling me I've heard Philander, and I can put a slight melody to it, but I don't think I can fully remember. Is it an old Frames song?
Also, I'm bummed to see that Return isn't on there too. Definitely one of the best songs he's written recently. I'm really not a fan of You Will Become, so I wish it were replaced with that. However, I'm so fuckin' excited to see that Bird of Sorrow is on there. If anyone remembers, a few months ago I was talking about how I'd heard this song he'd written and performed for the first time live at City Winery, and that I had a video but wasn't allowed to share it but that it had become possibly my favorite song by him. Well that is the song. I asked Glen about it after I saw Once at the New York Theatre Workshop, and he said he was still debating whether or not to put it on the album, and I told him that I had been there one of the only times he played it and practically begged for it to be on there, haha. Really really glad to see it made the cut. It's a phenomenal song. I sent it to a friend of mine and she said that she was a mess after hearing it and had it on repeat all night.
It's really kinda cool to see the track list and note that I was there some of the first times that he played these songs. Bird of Sorrow, What Are We Gonna Do (I have the original video from the first time that he played this song live)... Guys, needless to say, I'm excited.
I also bought my tickets today for the show at The Beacon in NYC. Anyone else going?
